What is John Wick Hex?
John Wick Hex is an Epic Games Store exclusive developed by Bithell Games and published by Good Shepherd Entertainment. It has received a lot of positive previews for making you feel like the Batman – sorry, Baba Yaga – but it’s not the sort of game you’d probably expect simply from watching the films.
Rather than a third-person shooter, John Wick Hex is instead a strategy game and “fight-choreographed chess brought to life.” It allows you to become dashing Keanu Reeves in a suit, but it’s a game which requires you to be calm and thoughtful thanks to the amount of choices and consequences for every action.
Progressing through the original main story will unlock new weapons, suit options and locations, but you won’t be able to head into combat willy-nilly thanks to ammo being finite and “realistically stimulated.”
Aside from the thoughtful and clever strategic gameplay, another captivating aspect of John Wick Hex is its noir art style. John Wick 3 was a particularly beautiful movie especially on the big screen, and the Baba Yaga’s video game adaptation is beautiful in its own right with its visual lines and colour palette.
